The Purpose of Innovation: Its Role in Society (혁신의 목적과 사회에서의 역할)

I touched upon this issue before.  What should be the purpose and substance of innovation undertaking in a nation?

The wellbeing of the most people is the very underpinning of society.  Innovation endeavor has to fulfill this.  It has to serve the best interest of the most people.

This means that innovation undertaking should be aligned with the purpose of a nation.  What kind of country it wishes to be?  If one wants the nation to be prosperous, free, fair, and well-educated, economic development and social democratic process should be oriented toward the broadest happiness and success for the most people.

Unless this process takes hold, most of the profits of production through innovation may flow to a chosen few in the long term.

In this context, innovation undertaking in a nation should be pursued in such a way that it facilitates economic and social democratic process to empower a large class of people.

What has been the underlying motivation behind innovation pursuit in Korea?  How has it played out?  This is the core question one has to look into in examining Korea’s innovation endeavor and trajectories.
